Connect-Worldwide Canada awarded Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau Public Relations Contract for Canada
Toronto-based firm expects to build on past Canadian success and boost visitation to diverse city
TORONTO, ON (September 12, 2011) – Connect-Worldwide is pleased to announce that the Canadian office has been awarded the Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau public relations contract in Canada. The account will be led by a veteran team of hospitality and tourism professionals, including Melanie Greco and Charmaine Singh, former President of Discover America.

Statistics Canada reports indicate that nearly 650,000 Canadians visited Arizona in 2010, representing a 16.5 percent increase over 2009. Since 2009, the Scottsdale CVB has experienced a significant increase in visitor inquiries. Together with Connect-Worldwide Canada, the CVB plans to expand its marketing and communications efforts even further with additional events and more familiarization trips.

Connect-Worldwide Acquires the Destination Marketing Division from Vision|Co
Toronto, ON (March 8, 2011) – Connect-Worldwide has acquired the destination marketing division from Vision|Co, which will become Connect-Worldwide Canada effective March 8, 2011. Charmaine Singh, who led the division at Vision|Co for more than three years and has 20 years experience in the hospitality and tourism industry, will continue to lead the Canadian team and will take a substantial ownership role in Connect-Worldwide Canada.

This past December, the Canadian dollar averaged 99.2 US cents and ended the month above parity at US $1.01, leading Canadians to travel in record numbers. StatsCan reported that Canadians took more than 4.8 million trips abroad for the month, an increase of 2.3 per cent from November, with the majority of the trips being to the United States.

The Nevada Commission on Tourism today announced the appointment of Connect-Worldwide as their representation company in South Korea with immediate effect. Connect-Worldwide will be utilizing the experience of their team to help continue the development of Nevada’s image within the Korean market.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority today announced a significant expansion to its international sales and marketing team with the appointment Connect-Worldwide International Inc. as its General Sales Agency (GSA) in two key growth markets. This appointment is Connect-Worldwide’s first entry in the destination management representation field.

CWW adds 67 properties in the US to its global representation portfolio.
As a direct result of Choice Hotels acquiring the Franchise System of 67 Suburban Extended Stay hotels, Connect-Worldwide has added 67 properties and more than 9000 rooms to its portfolio of hotels represented around the globe.

Connect-Worldwide CEO Eric Otto contacted several local business leaders to aid Tsunami victims in Indonesia. After hearing and watching of the wide spread disaster and monumental task facing the relief effort, Eric Otto along with O Premium Waters CEO Frank Leonesio, Swift Transportation owner Jerry Moyes, Choice Hotel International Senior VP of Marketing and Sales Wayne Wielgus all were willing to lend assistance. After international appeal for emergency food and water needs, Otto contacted Frank Leonesio, friend and CEO of O Premium Waters, to propose a plan to send water supplies directly to Indonesia. Leonesio immediately said yes and the plan quickly started to take shape. Likewise, fellow friends and business executives Moyes and Wielgus immediately offered transportation and financial assistance respectively. Otto then garnered the assistance of PATA (Pacific Asia Tourism Association) to handle the ground transportation to the worst affected areas in Indonesia.
